Fiery Dallas Crash Leaves 2 Dead, 2 Injured
October 9. 2012 17:47 by
On Friday October 5th, an early morning crash occurred between Lemmon Avenue and Hall Street along the northbound access road of U.S. Highway 75 Central Expressway, leaving two people dead and two injured.
Dallas police say one vehicle was involved in the crash which occurred when that vehicle ran off of the road, plowed through an iron fence, then struck a utility pole. At that point, the vehicle burst into flames.
News reports state that authorities were on the scene when firefighters arrived, and that the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. Paramedics found two dead bodies inside the vehicle after the fire was extinguished. The victims' bodies were burned severely, making immediate identification impossible according to a representative from the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office. As of Friday morning, one victim was listed in serious condition, the other in critical condition.
An update to this story published just hours after the original story stated that it had been determined that speeding caused the crash. Those who lost their lives were identified as 25-year-old Joshua Armstead, the driver of the vehicle, and a passenger, 19-year-old Fred Pupenbroke III. The car that crashed and caught fire was a 2001 Dodge Stratus.
An apartment complex sets immediately beside the scene of the crash; a neighbor told police that some residents of the apartment building helped pull two occupants of the burning vehicle out of the car prior to it burning out of control. Police said those individuals were rushed to area hospitals.
