Arrest Warrant Issued In Austin Hit And Run Car Accident
November 11. 2011 16:40 by

Police officers have issued an arrest warrant for Jose Genaro Bernal, charging him with failure to stop and render aid, which is a third degree felony. The charges stems from an Austin hit and run accident resulting in the death of University of Texas at Austin student Adam Grote. The hit and run pedestrian accident occurred this past Sunday at 3 a.m. as Mr. Grote was walking on the southbound shoulder of I-35 in Austin near Riverside Drive. Mr. Bernal’s car struck Mr. Grote, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Mr. Bernal drove off without rendering aid. Fortunately, a witness to the crash provided a license plate number to investigators, which matched Mr. Bernal’s license plate. Mr. Bernal did stop some 17 miles after the hit and run pedestrian accident where he told an Austin police officer he was involved in an a car accident. Of course, that was 17 miles too late.

Houston Hit And Run Car Accident Kills Dallas Student
October 20. 2011 11:01 by

Twenty-seven year old Catherine Shaw of Dallas was killed Tuesday night in a hit and run car accident in Houston. As evidenced by the picture above, the impact between the two cars involved in the accident was severe. Yet, according to officers, the Buick that crashed into Ms. Shaw’s car fled the scene of the accident before officers arrived. The driver of the Buick, 17 year old Daniel Palacios, has since turned himself in to Houston police officers and charges are pending. At the time of this car accident, Ms. Shaw was a second year law student at Texas Southern University, and she was a graduate of Texas A&M.

There is never an excuse to leave the scene of a car accident. Doing so can meant the difference between life and death for those involved. As in this case, who knows if the tragic outcome could have been different if the person that caused the accident remained at the scene and rendered aid. Yet, daily there are similar reports of hit and runs throughout our cities in Texas. Irving, Texas Hit And Run Car Accident Leaves Two Pedestrians in Critical Condition
October 3. 2011 10:47 by

Alberta Sago, 57 and her 7 year old granddaughter, Tinniyah Miles, were struck by a speeding car this past Sunday as they exited a salon and attempted to get into their car. Witnesses say that the hit and run suspect was traveling east on Grauwyler when he drove into the opposite lane of traffic then lost control of his car while attempting to avoid a collision. The driver then drove onto a sidewalk striking the victims, throwing 7 year old Tinniyah high into the air and dragging Ms. Sago about 50 feet. A witness to the hit and run followed the driver as he fled but stopped when the driver abandoned the car and threatened the witness. Both victims of the hit and run accident remain in critical condition at local hospitals. Police have the car involved in the accident and hope that it will provide clues as to the identity of the driver.

There is never an excuse for a driver to leave the scene of a car accident, especially when pedestrians are involved. In cases like these, police officers need the help of all citizens, and once the fleeing driver is found, he needs to be held criminally and civilly liable. If you have been the victim of a hit and run driver, call the Dallas personal injury attorneys at Wilson Trosclair & Lovins today at 214-484-1930.
