One Dead And Two Injured In Dallas Trucking Accident
November 22. 2011 14:10 by

Regina Raquel Duane was killed in an early morning Dallas trucking accident when the pickup truck she was a passenger in collided with an 18-wheeler. The trucking accident happened at approximately 2:15 a.m. this morning. Investigating officers believe the driver of the pickup truck-which was pulling a trailer at the time- lost control while driving in the heavy rain of I-35E in Oak Cliff and jackknifed. An 18-wheeler then crashed in the pickup truck, killing Regina Raquel Duane and seriously injuring the two other occupants of the truck. The two other occupants have not been identified, but it was recently confirmed that they were a 26 year old teacher and a 15 year old student from McKinney, Texas. It is believed that prior to the trucking accident, Ms. Duane and her two companions were in Midlothian showing sheep at an FFA event. The unidentified teacher remains in critical condition, and the student is in stable condition. The 18-wheeler driver escaped the trucking accident with only minor injuries.

Nine Year Old Girl Tragically Killed In Car Wreck Near Frisco, Texas
June 9. 2011 11:13 by

A tragic car wreck near Frisco, Texas (a town just north of Dallas, Texas) took the life of a 9 year old girl on Wednesday night.   The young girl, Marci Hotten, along with her mother and 12 year old sister, were in the southbound service road of Highway 121 at the time of the auto accident.  It is not clear whether their car was disabled or traveling slowly, but what is known is that a tow truck driver struck the car from behind.  The tow truck driver told investigating officers that he was unable to see the car until it was too late due to a small rise in the road immediately prior to the point of impact. Poor lighting in the area and the lack of a shoulder for the disabled car to pull onto also likely contributed to this tragic car accident.  It is not believed that the tow truck driver was impaired at the time of the accident, and no charges are expected to be filed.  Ofifcers continue to investigate the cause of the auto accident, however.  Marci’s mother and older sister were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marci Hotten and her family.

Driver Killed In Car Accident Involving A Tow Truck
May 23. 2011 13:31 by

One person was killed and another was injured when the car they were in collided with a tow truck on Highway 360 in Arlington. At the time of the accident, the tow truck was in the southbound lanes of Highway 360 assisting another car with a flat tire.  The car, which was reported to be driving at a high rate of speed, crashed into the rear of the tow truck. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and the passenger was transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center by helicopter.   No other injuries were reported.

There are very specific regulations as to the appropriate warnings that must be provided to oncoming traffic when a tow truck is operating within the lanes of traffic.  Failure to follow those regulations can create dangerous conditions that can lead to accidents, such as the one described above.  The attorneys at WTL previously handled a similar case, where we argued that the tow truck driver failed to properly warn oncoming vehicles, including a young couple killed in the car accident.  If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, can the car accident attorneys at Wilson Trosclair & Lovins in Dallas and Austin today.  Call us at 214-484-1930.
